Bobby Krug to race full 2022 SuperComp Series

Updated: Apr 9

MADISON, Illinois, April 8, 2022 --- Bobby Krug announced his return to the Gateway Kartplex to compete in the 2022 SuperComp Series with Global Force Kartsport.

The Gateway Kartplex SuperComp Series provides the experienced racer with a challenging environment to further hone their driving skills and racecraft. In the SuperComp Series, all chassis manufacturers are allowed and the soft Hoosier R60B tire is utilized. For Krug, this is the final box to check on his list of accomplishments at the Gateway Kartplex.

“I feel like I’ve done it all from being an iDrive Rental Kart Champion, Gateway 500 Champion, and Ignite Series Senior Class Champion; but I have yet to win a SuperComp Championship,” Krug said. “With our success late last year and the commitment from Global Force Kartsport, I think we can do very well in SuperComp. In addition, this serves as great practice to keep me in shape for the Skip Barber Race Series.”

While Krug joins Global Force Kartsport as a kart racer for 2022, he is no stranger to the veteran-owned race team. ATA Network and the Bobby Krug Racing Team have been the provider of technical support since Global Force Kartsport’s launch in 2019, offering driver coaching and mechanical performance setup for team owner and Ignite debut driver Matt Zigaitis. In addition, Global Force Kartsport is the primary sponsor on Krug’s virtual IndyCar in the 2022 IORL IndyCar Series on the iRacing platform. Krug will be the team’s third driver in the stable but first to enter in SuperComp Series competition.

“I have always been a staunch supporter of Bobby Krug's racing career, so the decision to offer this ride was simple. His racecraft and winning capabilities in both a kart and race car are undeniably present, no matter the formula,” said Zigaitis. “Krug has been absolutely integral to the team's continued growth and I remain committed to getting him on the ultimate top step and achieving his professional goal."
