Watkins Glen, NEW YORK, July 25, 2021 --- Bobby Krug claims a third-place podium finish and an eighth-place finish in the third round of the Skip Barber Race Series at the historic Watkins Glen International.

In the practice sessions, Krug struggled to find pace as he finished seventh in the first practice and eighth in the final practice session. Krug was able pick up the pace in Qualifying but it only advanced him up two spots, placing himself sixth on the starting grid for Race 1. Early in Race 1, Krug was able to maintain his sixth place position through the opening sector of the race but unfortuantely struggled to maintain the same speed he showed in qualifying, falling back to eighth place by the drop of the checkered flag.

"Watkins Glen is defintely one of the most challenging tracks I have raced on," Krug said post-race. "The high-speed, high-committment corners are the places were I feel like I'm losing pace and I'll work with the Skip Barber Racing School instructors to learn what I can do to improve for the final race."

The starting lineup for Race 2 was determined by fastest lap ran in Race 1, placing Krug in eighth place. While Krug did find an improved pace in the final race, he made his passes due to mistakes from other drivers. Krug made a pass on Mikkel Gade for fifth but passed Jeshua Alianell stalled on-track with unforseeable car issues and both Will and Dean Lambros after they came down the pitlane with seperate issues. At the checkered flag, Krug claimed the final step on the podium, his fourth podium finish of the season.

"I hate to see other drivers lose out on good finishes because of the atmosphere we have in this series where we are all friends but I'm glad to have been able to salvage a podium finish," Krug said. "My issues this weekend were all driver-related; I lost confidence in myself and we will work to regain that in the next race."

After three rounds of the Skip Barber Formula Race Series, Krug occupies third in the overall points standings behind Jeshua Alianell and Elvis Rankin. The next Skip Barber Formula Race Series event will be August 2-4 at New Jersey Motorsports Park on the Thunderbolt course.
