Krug finishes fourth and sixth at New Jersey Motorsports Park

Millville, NEW JERSEY, August 5, 2021 --- Bobby Krug finishes fourth and sixth in the fourth round of the Skip Barber Race Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP).

With no prior experience on the NJMP Thunderbolt course, Krug was looking to try to learn as much as he could in the first practice sessions. Unfortunately, unforeseeable car issues would cut his session short, placing importance on the second and final practice session. In practice 2, Krug completed the session with a time of 1:29.244, over 7 seconds faster than he best time in practice 1.

In the first qualifying, Krug placed his No. 8 Skip Barber Formula Car fourth, improving his best time by 0.7 seconds. Unfortunately, Krug went off-track in the second qualifying session, forfeiting his session and placing him at the back of the grid for Race 2.

Krug had a decent start in Race 1, maintaining his fourth place spot in the opening lap. Only a couple laps into the race, his car experienced mechanical issues and his race was concluded in the pits in sixth place.

In Race 2, Krug was able to improve his start and drive from sixth to fourth in the opening laps. Mechanical issues reappeared but Krug was able to preserve to claim a fourth-place finish after running a podium-worthy best lap of 1:27.366.

"While having mechanical issues is frustrating, it is a part of racing," Krug said. "I know the Skip Barber team is going to look further into it and do everything they can to get the car back to race standards, as they have always done all season-long and beyond."

After four rounds of the Skip Barber Formula Race Series, Krug occupies third in the overall points standings behind Jeshua Alianell and Elvis Rankin. The next Skip Barber Formula Race Series event will be August 19-21 at Road America in Elkart Lake, Wisconsin.
