Sebring, FLORIDA, September 26, 2021 --- Bobby Krug claimed a fourth-place and a third-place podium finish this past weekend in the sixth round of the Skip Barber Formula Race Series at Sebring International Raceway. His podium this weekend marks his seventh podium finish of the 2022 season.
Krug had a very strong showing in Saturday's qualifying session, placing the No. 15 Skip Barber Formula car in the second place position with a time of 2:18.296, missing the pole position by 0.207.
At the start of Race 1, Krug was able to maintain second place at the drop of the green flag. Elvis Rankin challenged Krug for the second place position, eventually relegating Krug back to third. Krug had settled into the podium position but a slight mistake from Krug resulted in a self-spin in Turn 3 as Krug fell back to sixth. In the closing laps, Krug had an impressive recovery drive, picking up two of three spots lost after his spin to bring home a fourth-place finish.
Krug rolled off from fourth for Race 2 based on his fastest lap ran in Race 1. In similar fashion as Race 1, Krug was able to maintain fourth-place on the first couple corners. Within the early laps, Krug passed Mikkel Gade for third and continued to push for more positions but was unable to catch the Top 2. At the drop of the checkered flag, Krug held on to finish on the final step of the podium.
"I'm proud of our performance this weekend, especially being my first time on track at Sebring," Krug said. "The track presented a lot of challenges, mentally and physically, and I feel like we overcame them by the end of the weekend."
With only one round remaining in the Skip Barber Formula Race Series, Krug maintains third in the overall points standings. The final Skip Barber Formula Race Series event will be November 29-30 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
